Today we mourn the loss of one of our own.
Eli Cathers, a fifth year Ravenclaw, was found dead on the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest last Friday. The loss has been felt all over Hogwarts, where students and staff are already on edge. A strange new illness has recently swept through the halls of Hogwarts, gradually sapping students of their magic. Thus far, no staff members have been stricken ill, but many feel that it is only a matter of time before the situation grows out of hand and Hogwarts is quarantined.
No word yet on whether the death of Eli Cathers has anything to do with this malady, although we can be fairly certain that the Hogwarts staff is carrying on an investigation into the matter as we speak. Some suspect foul play. "Strange, dangerous things have been happening around Hogwarts lately. I can't help but think that this is no coincidence..." a source close to Miss Cathers confided.
No matter the cause, the death of Eli Cathers is a tragedy. She will be missed by her friends and classmates. We can only hope this is not a sign of what is to come.
